Apartment living is a stressful, new experience for college students. More often than not, you’ll find yourself disorganized and anxious but, ultimately, free. And with freedom comes that responsibility factor that we all like to pretend isn’t truly there.

So how do you keep your life organized? When it comes to finances, school work, health and relaxing, there is a lot to manage when you’re living on your own. So, these 10 apps not only help you to manage all of those processes but in an organized and efficient way, just with the touch of a button on the phone you always have with you anyway.

Here are 10 apps for students living in apartments.

1. Amazon Shopping

Amazon is going to be your savior throughout your college experience, and you can use it for literally every need that you could possibly have in your apartment. From kitchen supplies to furniture to clothes to books, Amazon has everything you could possibly need.

2. Sworkit

Staying fit and active is nearly impossible when you feel like you have no time to manage it. However, with the free Sworkit app, you have workouts that are as short as five minutes that you can easily fit into your daily routine. So there’s no longer an excuse for not working out because it truly is that easy!

3. SelfControl

When you’re doing homework from the apartment, distractions are everywhere, most of which are on your phone (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, text messaging). SelfControl blocks certain websites that are distractors when you’re studying, and you set the amount of time you want it to do so.

So if you need one hour of devoted study time, this is the perfect app to help you achieve it.

4. Venmo

If you don’t have this app by now, it’s certainly one you’ll want to download as a college student. If you need to pay back a roommate for the rent, or for a utility bill, you can transfer the money to them via the app rather than taking out the cash or writing a check. It’s fast, it’s easy, and you’ll be able to stay on top of your finances much easier.

5. Dashlane

Another free app (with paid subscriptions available to its users), Dashlane stores all of your passwords in one location. In addition, it helps you to create unique passwords for those pesky sites that require an insane number of characters, symbols, and numbers. Basically, no matter the password, no matter the site, Dashlane will save them all in one, secure location.

6. Good Morning Alarm Clock

Probably my favorite on this list, the Good Morning Alarm Clock isn’t just any alarm clock. With this app, you assign a half-hour range that you need to wake up. So if you have to be up at 7:30 a.m. at the latest, you set an alarm between 7 and 7:30 a.m. and the alarm will turn on at the optimal time based on your sleep patterns. So, you aren’t experiencing grogginess and you’re waking up at the perfect time.

This app costs $3.99, but I promise it’s worth it.

7. TinyScan

You’re going to have to scan quite a few documents in your college experience, and uploading roommate agreements, billing information, and other important information into your computer can be a pain without a scanner. And, if you don’t want to purchase a printer with scanning capabilities, your phone is a lovely, portable scanner with this free app.

8. Mint

The financial app that helps you stay on top of your bills, your credit score, and your spending habits — perfect for any college student with an apartment. You can manage everything financial on this app, including bills, credit cards, bank accounts, and other investments. The best part? It’s all in one location. And, again, it’s completely free.

9. Groupon

On the fun side of things, Groupon is a great app for saving money on fun events, everyday shopping, and traveling for that Spring Break trip with the roomies. No matter what you use it for, it’s a big money saver, and it’s free.

10. Pandora/Spotify

And finally, relaxation time is huge, and both of these music streaming apps are great additions if you need study music, relaxation music, or party music for the apartment. Basically, whatever the occasion, both apps help you to set the mood, and they’re both absolutely free (with optional upgrades for limited/no commercials).

Apps can be a great addition to apartment living, and I highly recommend researching more apps that may be beneficial for you. No matter the choices, make sure you’re using apps that help you to stay organized and on top of your finances, and that allow you to have a great, breezy college experience.

Have a great academic year!
